A Life in Service of Humanity Menschheit
On March 6, 1917, amid the thunder of cannons of World War I, an event took place in Colombia that would have unique effects on the times to come: the birth of Víctor Manuel Gómez Rodríguez – the civil name of the one who was called to revolutionize the fields of science, psychology, religion and anthropology.
A Gnostic master is not born, but shapes himself in life itself. His youth was marked by the pilgrimage through sects, theories, authors and schools. At age 12, he dedicated himself to the study of Spiritism and became a true 'bookworm', reading for hours works of extremely complex content.
In his youth, he studied the works of Madame Helena Blavatsky and was already giving lectures at the Theosophical Society at age 17. He intensely dedicated himself to the practice of Raja-Yoga, Bhakti-Yoga, Karma-Yoga, Jnana-Yoga and other disciplines.
At age 19, he joined the Gnostic Rosicrucian School of V. M. Huiracocha – Dr. Krumm Heller. In this phase, he studied the works of authors such as Franz Hartmann, Eliphas Lévi, Rudolf Steiner and Max Heindel.
From Víctor Manuel to Samael Aun Weor
In 1946, he met Doña Arnolda Garro (V. M. Litelantes). Only 15 days after meeting, they married and joined their lives for 32 years. His wife helped and instructed him in the Jinas Science, which motivated Víctor Manuel to definitively choose practical and experimental work instead of the intellectual speculation of the various schools of that time.
In 1947, his Kundalini awoke, through which he received the holy name of his Innermost: 'Aun Weor'. Under this name, he began to be recognized as a master by his first students, and with this name he signed his first works.
On April 9, 1948, the young Bodhisattva 'Aun Weor' received from his Inner Father 'Samael' the holy mission to publicly found and teach contemporary Gnosticism.
Two years later, he published his first book 'The Perfect Marriage or Door to Initiation'. With this work, Master Samael broke through the pseudo-esoteric schemes of contemporary schools and delivered the keys of Arcanum AZF to all humanity.
We want no idolaters, and followers do not interest us. We are only signposts; our work is not proselytism: We point with logical thinking and exact concept the path to be followed, so that each one may reach their Inner Master, the True Inner Being, who dwells in silence within each of you.
A master is known by his works
The Gnostic teaching teaches that a true master is known by his works, by concrete deeds, more than by his words. And exactly so taught V. M. Samael Aun Weor – selflessly he founded 5 institutions that remain active worldwide to this day.

V. M. Samael Aun Weor dedicated his life to spreading the Gnostic teaching from the perspectives of science, art, philosophy and religion. Since 1950, when he published his first book 'The Perfect Marriage', he wrote dozens of works on various topics such as anthropology, medicine, esotericism, yoga, tarot, Kabbalah, psychoanalysis, religion, education and many more.
